Hello.

Can I get any route recommendations for around the north of England/Scottish borders for next week? I've got the week off and am looking to do a bit of pootling around and mix up some mtb and cx (take my cx bike and hire a mtb when needed). I'm thinking of starting at Dalby and ending either in the lakes or at Gisburn, but am not sure about where to go in between.

So has anyone any good ideas for routes/trails, preferably fairly long and ideally ridable on a cx bike? I've had the Sandstone Way suggested, but other than that.

Not sure about suitability for cx bike, but the tracks at Glentress and Innerleithen are very good. Close to Peebles.

Cheers. I'll have a look at them; I'm largely quite flexible on what to do and when, so if the 7Stanes look better for mtb days, I'll do that.

MM I don't know if the Dirty Reiver routes are available still online but that's based around Kielder water and had routes up to 200k. Obviously you would adapt route to suit you but as that was a gravel bike /cx bike event might be worth looking at.
I've been to Kielder many times watching car rallying but have never ridden a bike there but like all forests the road system is fair and there is a tarmac forest drive to the north of the reservoir.

Loads of stuff at Kielder is rideable on a cx bike. They've used parts of the blue for several events. The old Kielder 100 wasn't all that techy as far as I remember.

Hope Women's Enduro at Gisburn forest today. It was my first enduro and my first trip to Gisburn. And it was bloody brilliant. It was amazing to see so many really competent women 'shredding', so much colour and so many expensive bikes :-O

Fantastic event, I'd happily do again...

Oh, and in other news... the full face helmet I bought for Antur Stiniog and then subsequently crashed onto... well, on further examination on Friday I found it's a write-off. Dented and cracked. Better that than my head...

Since the last appearance of Kaph, some time ago... there are now three wheel sizes, and now new plus (+) tyres for the even more adventurous!

26 / 27.5 (650b) / 29 / 27.5+ (650b+) / 29+ / fat
whatever you ride, enjoy it :)

Gravel also welcome :)

Also, is 26 dead yet?
