Completely agree YC - as a resident on a small holding, I looked into building a micro turbine. The planning system is *not* supportive at that scale either! Interestingly, our office (large corporate finance company with a big office campus site) is building its own turbine. I chatted to the building manager and he said planning was initially difficult but council became supportive. I'd like to know what changed them! G |

Afternoon all We have been using a Tesco Mastercard - simply because Tesco is our local supermarket - so we benefit with extra discounts etc by using the card. Tesco announced a few months ago that Barclays will be taking over Tesco Bank, and the credit cards are included in that. As Barclays are one of, if not the, worst bank for environmental issues, I'd rather not give them any of my hard earned cash, so we've been looking at options for other credit cards. In my research, I came across this website - Good With Money good-with-money.com and thought it might be useful for others, as it shares info on ethical options for all things finance related. |

Lol Mushroom. As one of those parties is my former employer I don't see them being particularly ethical finance company either! But yes, great if you can direct your finances to companies with ethical investment stance. Not sure I believe any of them, to be fair, having worked in the industry as it were! G

Absolutely not mainstream banking, but there is a small alternative ethical investment company if people are interested: triodoscrowdfunding.co.uk That's the latest offering, but they have things from time to time of varying forms. All investments at your own risk etc. |

Sadly Uk is not serious about getting off oil. Cornwall is a prime example, there would have to be a massive grant scheme to do this.
