The Doctor K Cup

The seventh annual Doctor K Cup will take place on Saturday October 19th 2024
All you need is a GPS watch or app. On the day, RUN AT LEAST 5K WITHOUT LOOKING AT YOUR WATCH. The Fetch Benchmark system will pull out your fastest 5k from your run (so you can include it as part of your long run if you like). The person who gets closest to their prediction will be declared the winner (though the judges decision is final!).
It would be lovely if you could upload your 'K' pics to the gallery (make a K shape with your fingers) to help us remember Doctor K and all the Fetchies we have lost.
NB A GPS watch reporting 5.00km will do so from 4995 metres onwards, but you MUST run at least 5000 metres or more. To avoid disappointment add an extra 10 seconds on to the end of your run, just to make sure.
How to join in
Firstly, add the 2024 Doctor K Cup to your Fetch portfolio. All you need is a GPS watch or app. On the day, RUN AT LEAST 5K WITHOUT LOOKING AT YOUR WATCH. My training log says 5km in 28.25, my official result says 28.30! I put my fetch result in as my race result. Should I change it?

I’ll be close to my prediction. Uni of Stirling parkrun always measures over-distance on my Garmin so I’ll need to see what Fetch’s 5k extrapolation comes up with 😀 Extra puddles didn’t help today! |

The only K that I could find on my fetch garments. I was parkwalker today, in the company of two daughters and their mother from Bradford, Newcastle and Nottingham. We discussed the history of the Beeston course, the old Lido and Canal features as well as the Nottingham Clockwalk (50 miles circling Nottingham). I blame the talking for being 5 minutes slower than predicted. Thanks for this Joopsy, a good day to think of running friends now gone. |

This was the first time I cycled to and from a local parkrun, so I nabbed a K off my bike. My time was quite a bit off what I predicted, but in a good way - looks like my best 5k in the last 5 years! |

19 seconds off my predicted time. I did however forget my barcode and didn’t have my phone so no official time at Cannock Chase Parkrun this week

Really struggled at parkrun this morning (50:38 - 5k benchmark of 49:22) vs a predicted time of 43:00.

Oops... about 10mins quicker than I guessed but a friend offered to do the c25k session with me that I'm missing on Tuesday (8min run, 2min walk). Had no idea how we were doing in terms of time until she said that we were going to smash 35min!
