I'll probably get sucked in and watch the ceremony! I won't be pledging allegiance, but do think that most of the Royal Family do a good job in an unenviable situation. The 'value' they add to the country is difficult to assess, but I know many charities benefit from and appreciate their support and I'd rather we had the monarchy than not.

I'm getting more fed up with the monarchy as time gets on, Charles 'hideous mistreatment of Diana seems to be fading with memory. Does no-one remember 1997? Even the Queen came in for vitriol from the Daily Express (the monarchist in-house fanzine) with the "Show us you care" headline. There were fears she might even get booed (that never materialised).
Then there's the gradual rehabilitation of Andrew. Enough said. Outrageous.
Also the fact that the royalty and aristocracy control the way most land is owned in this country. (William the Conqueror divvied land up between 200 trusted nobles/officers and that broadly is still reflected today. Wanna know why the Duke of Westminster is one of the top richest people in the country - and his father was the richest at times I believe - because of land gifted to the Grosvenors... or rather Hugh Le "Gros" Veneur (Fat Huntsman - his nickname), William's huntsman. His descendants dabbled with property management in the 1600s in Belgravia and the rest is history.
And not least because they caused the collapse of one of our club races, and Cornwall's only fell race (so Cornwall no longer has a fell race).

I am profoundly indifferent, some bloke I don't know, and don't relate to in anyway is getting a new hat, and while he does I get some quieter roads to cycle on. Seeing plenty of foaming hatred, and in way these people are as 'obsessed' as those currently camping out to get a view....
Lots of people who have probably had a pretty shit/tough Winter will have some fun and an extra day off over the weekend, getting curmudgeonly about it seems a bit wrong.
There are millions pledging far more subservience/allegance to their 'Gods' on a daily/weekly basis, and shaping their lives accordingly so no idea why folk are obsessing over some ceremonial words.

My local parkrun RD has suggested "red, white and blue". I shall conform.
My nearest parkrun is off this weekend and the next nearest is having a Star Wars theme. Knowing one of the RDs, that doesn’t surprise me in the least.

I've had a pretty rough Winter but rather than getting to enjoy an extra day off, I'm expected to still provide the usual level of service despite many of the resources I rely on being unavailable because they *are* enjoying an extra day off. I don't care about silly hats and thrones and so on but please, enough of these PIA Bank Holidays!

Won’t be watching it but if I was still in the RAF I would have wanted to be involved which sounds like a contradiction I know.

As a taxpayer I'm helping to fund the 100m junket whilst others are queuing at foodbanks.
I'll be curmudgeonly about it if I want...
