I have just been reading up on that D2, totally agree! Unheard of in 2023!!!!!
And, is this the coronation of Camilla? I looked at a list of people attending and there are more friends and family of Camilla than Charles!

I’ve never felt the urge to pledge allegiance to anyone, and being asked to do so is not going to increase my support for the monarchy one bit.

It has less relevance to me than some celeb being crowned king or queen of the jungle. At least those wannabe celebs suffer for their crown. Charles just had to be born!

And I have always had the impression he'd rather not be King... I mean, how old is he?

I think you're right, Hanneke. He has seemed to give that impression to me too when I've seen him on the TV. Suppose that's what comes from it being a role where one of your closest relatives has to die for you to get the job!

I've had a flyer through the letter box. Someone in my street is organising a street part. Fortunately I'm at the top end of the cul de sac so can ignore it.

I sort of hope that it's a complete flop. The whole business has pushed me into the republican camp. So no I'll be doing something constructive like trimming sheep hooves.

No street parties here or celebrations I shall more than likely be running or mowing my field oops sorry lawn :) But I think in Wales we are not too bothered.

I've just been redirected to fixing the baler (something I confess to having forgotten about).

I'm almost ridiculously proud of the fact that I've never knowingly watched a single moment of any Royal event. Be it birth marriage or death. When Charles married Diana I was servicing my Vauxhall Chevette.....

So will you be waving your little union jack and pledging your allegiance and scoffing coronation chicken or quiche at a street party?

Or ignoring the whole bloated exhibition of flummery and forelock tugging to inherited privilege and finding more important things to do?

I'm in the latter camp :-)
