Yes someone was in a bad way less than a mile from the finish in the North Lincs half today. It's horrible passing and then not knowing if they were okay!

Health care workers sometimes think of themselves (ourselves!) as a species apart. I was both amused and frustrated by a pair of spherical and hypochondriacal GP colleagues who were always on at patients to lose weight, oh it's a simple thing anyone can do, oh Slimming World.

I know V'rap. I particularly remember working with one nurse who was so large she couldn't actually get on the floor - never mind do CPR whilst she was there. One of the nurses who used to work at my GP surgery who was morbidly obese was supposed to tell me about the benefits of a healthy diet and exercise at my annual chronic health condition review.

A nurse at our practice gave me a weight loss sheet regarding being pre-diabetic, I had to stifle a snigger.
I’m barely ten stone.

I don't think a health care worker's body size says anything about their competence, but would expect an overweight doctor or nurse to understand better than anyone that losing weight isn't easy, it's really hard for most people, and it's also not a panacea.

I didn’t doubt her competence at all. More physician heal thy self.

My thoughts were more in line with Ally's V'rap.

Any "big city" folks with any hints or tips for a northerner coming down for the race?
We are staying just the Saturday night in Edgware (works surprisingly well for race day) so driving down on Saturday morning. We could either
a) park up at Edgware, tube in and out to ExCel, pick up numbers and head back the Edgware
b) drive closer to ExCel and then drive back across to Edgware or
c) unknown option c that someone smart may suggest
No great desire to spend a long time at the Expo but equally don't want to be in the car all day long.
Feels now is the right time to be starting to think about logistics!
(Hope training is going well for all!)

I’d get the tube. You’ve also got the DLR, riverbus and cable car right by the Excel, which are all fun!

I'd never bring the car anywhere in more central London if I could help it, it's too unpredictable. Journeys that can be 40 minutes (like the trip around the a406 to say Beckton) could easily turn into well over an hour.
If you didn't want to change as many times (as from Edgware I guess you'll change from tube to Elizabeth line to DLR), you could leave the car at wembley park and just sit on the Jubilee line most of the way. Won't save much if any time but a more peaceful journey!
