So now we all have their email shall we bombard them with emails putting undue pressure on them to perform under challenging circumstances? Or just bombard them with expletive laden emails telling them what absolute arseholes they are?

I get that the school need procedures but they also need the ability to go off piste as the situation demands.

It reminds me of a car insurance claim when someone drove into the back of my wife’s car. Only two weeks after the same thing happened in the same place and before the first was dealt with. The call handlers questions couldn’t compute this situation and it took ages to get sorted between three companies and two drivers that admitted liability.

So are the letters the policy or do they actually intend to follow through with referral to children’s services? If they can’t take account of circumstances or aren’t actually going to follow through then their policy is a bit shit really.

Let them refer to children’s services. I would hope their response would be ‘we have children who actually require assistance, if you can’t support kids appropriately then that’s your f*cking problem. Now jog on’

Wow, they're so lovely aren't they? Not even the suggestion that they could support you more, or enquiring about any difficulties accessing the work, or even asking if she's OK.

LindsD, I am horrified by the email you have received. As deputy head at a large secondary school, our communication with parents whose children have not engaged much with work has only been are they ok, are you ok? The work can wait if need be. I cannot fathom why they think that's acceptable and threatening Children's Social Care is outrageous, this is not a safeguarding risk!

Rant over....

Agree with all the above. I was chair of governors of a primary that had to academise (we were reception to yr5 and needed to extend to try and this was only way). I hated the more business oriented approach. There are a small number of schools seem to only look at the "bottom line" - academic results and only see the children as an input to their result tables.
