trying to mix the training up a bit. At the club we run at the track on a Monday, its not intense at all, sometimes 400s,800s or mile reps. Was thinking of leaving that until the new year and just racking up the miles, few hill reps and fartlek (which Ive never done). North of 80 mpw! Ive reach 55mpw on ocaasion. When you run over 70 miles per week what kind of pace on average are you doing these in ? Do you slow it right down to get the milage up? My long run yesterday (with a bit of a cough) was at 7:45 pace 14 miles.
I know everyone is different but just interested to know.

I train to HR, and the hilly nature of the routes round here means I can be anything from 7.15 to 10+/mile. If I keep my HR low on most runs I can get plenty of miles in. It's the intensity rather than the pace that's important. When I ran 1:17 in March my easy runs were around 7:15/mile on the flat, but it took a while to get to that stage. Just now I'm running my easy and long runs at about 8mm on flat sections. I reckon I'm in about 1:23 to 1:25 shape just now though.

Funny that Davie as yesterday was the first time I ran with a HR monitor, got home and it was all over the place so trying again tonight. Plan is just to run as normal and see where my rate is at. Shall report back. Think my easy ish runs at the moment are 7.30 ish, really did nt feel that bad at 14 at 7:45 yesterday. This is Hadd training right?
..off now to fit my heart strap thingy better !

haven't run over 10 miles since VLM in April but ran 84:37 at the Brum Half yesterday.

Run 16 myself yesterday@ 8.45mm avg.. was running my long run as slow as possible without total boredom setting in. Most miles were between 8.50-9mm but cracked with around 3 to go mainly as i'd was severely under-fuelled for that sort of time on feet.. thoughts of anything food was the only thing keeping me going!! My hr stats are that bad just now it's like starting from scratch again.. Hopefully be back running 7.30-8mm again for sub75% (general milage) again soon but may take a couple of months!!

I have no idea about my HR, but I run the vast majority of my mileage, including long runs, at around 8:45 - 9mm.
This is mainly due to who I run with, but I definitely don't see it as a problem. If anything it means I can handle bigger mileage more sustainably.
The Hadd base training plan is a bit more specific than people think isn't it?

I think I run to many miles to quick and get a bit tired. Going to slow up a bit!
Time on legs is time on legs I guess. Does interest me my heart rate though, just a pain the heart rate strap!

Ok I'm planning my Spring 2013 run faster campaign as a build up to a fast (fingers crossed) marathon in the Autumn. Bath and Reading are now entered, with some negotiation on going for the White Horse Half.
Quick question about Bath - can anyone recommend a family friendly hotel within warm-up distance of the start of the Bath Half start?
