Tanda wasn't accurate for me when I was undertrained for marathon (less than 30mpw). However it's since been correct to within a minute twice and last time I outperformed it by 4 minutes, which is still within his standard error.

Just checked in on her account, and it's showing *already* 3:59 for London (so even assuming 4-5 weeks of doing nothing, it thinks she'd hit 3:59 in 4-5 weeks time) and her current period is down at 3:50. In Tanda I trust!

I am liking the positive Tanda vibes ๐and another pointer that sub 4 is certainly feasible for the lady in question!

Hey, thanks Raptors claws are coming to town - super efficient on the targets / actuals over there! Very happy with that as a result, and a good event all round I think. Definitely things to learn about pacing, nutrition etc, but I wasn't too far off where I thought I'd be.

That's a really good result, Joe1970 Do you think you'll do another road marathon?

Ah...never say never! I wanted to do this one because I figured I was in reasonable shape for it, and it'd be kinda nice to know if I could do a marathon aiming for a time rather than aiming to complete and have a nice day in the countryside like for most trail runs, so I've ticked that off I guess. I've got some more trail-type events penciled into the calendar for the summer, but I'm clearly going to get London-envy in a few weeks so I'm sure road marathons will stay on the radar, even if in the back of the mind for a bit!

Belated congratulations Joe1970! That's a great run. Hope you're recovering well. Just ticked off my final run before Manchester. It's been a pretty decent training block, definitely helped by an extended absence from work which made fitting it all in far simpler. I had to cut back one peak week to get over a leg niggle but otherwise am pretty happy with how it's all gone. The plan for Sunday is to start no quicker than 9m/m, and either stay there, or pick it up a bit if possible later on. Tanda is giving me some lovely sub-3:45 predictions, but I seem to be a bad converter (+15-20 minutes for previous marathons) so being conservative feels sensible. I'm definitely fitter than in previous years so hopefully that will help the final miles! Targets - A) sub-4; B) a PB (sub-4:07); C) finish in time for my non-refundable, non-changeable train home at 5pm |

My wife is getting similarly outlandish Tanda predictions Cas. She's shooting for 3:55 at London, but Tanda is down in the low 3:40s; though she will have supershoes for the big day! Run well at Manchester! |

Have a great run, CasB Tanda is quoting me 4:01:34 for Belfast, which would be quite comforting except that it estimated 4:08:13 for Seville and I actually ran 4:52:19 and that felt like I overperformed relative to my training. My Garmin is quoting me 4:19:02, which is at the optimistic end of what I might be capable of and which would be sufficient for a GFA. |
