Miser
Just want to echo the sentiment that more life and activity is no bad thing here. It feels like a lot of people have been time splitting across both forums for ages anyway!

+1 no objection from me to more chat in the thread.
For newcomers I'm in the MV45's, my best is 3h02 arguably should have gone quicker at some point in the past except for the small matter of 15 years of not trying after getting 3h04m in 2009, which was probably in my RW posting days back then, I was a member there from around 2004.

Thanks both.
I'm just coming out of a racing phase with with 7 races and a flat out parkrun in last in last 9 weeks, including the Newport marathon late April.
That didn't quite go to plan and wasn't helped being subsequently confirmed as long. Ended up 2.47 when I was looking to beat October's 2.43 in Chester.
Just finishing a deload week then I've 6 weeks to get 10k fit for a sub 36 attempt in July. Nice progressive parkrun this morning, coming in 19.02. My first activity uploaded here so looking to get to grips with the fancy new stats it has here.

Thanks, your best days are ahead of you rhb. I peaked at 53 with my marathon PB and thankfully the decline has been slow a d gradual.
Nice PR DT haven't tried the uploading yet.
12m @ 8mm this morning with my mate in prep for our 6 hour race next Saturday, laps of a lake. Never done one of these before so very open to suggestions on nutrition (I was thinking gels) and how mentally to approach it. The aim is 12 * 3m laps.

Rhb, to echo what oo says, I'm m45 and I've run 11 of my 18 maras in that AG. Of those 11, 10 of them are my 10 best maras, so you've got some good years to come.
Oo, is that the plan, to sit at 8mm then for 6 hours?
I've transferred my full garmin history over now, was surprisingly easy even for me.
Easy 15m this morning at 7.55mm. Wore a long sleeved top.....mid June!

rhb - my marathon PB was set when I was 51 or 52.
OuchOuch - when I did a 6 hour I found food better than relying on gels. Bits of banana, choc chip bagel, Nakd bars and the like. You might want to have something savoury on hand too. If it might be hot salted crisps/pretzels could be useful.
It's certainly not warm DT19. I would like Flaming June to appear soon!

OO - I'd take a gel, or drink at the end of each lap. Top up early whilst you can face it better.
I did 5 and 10 Friday, followed by a hilly and very windy 16m yday, which gave me 80m for the week, can't have had many 80m weeks that didn't have a 20m in there.
5m inc strides today, in howling wind again. Why is it so windy lately?

Jda, that sounds about right! Oddly though, it brightened up after lunch and was quite pleasant, as it is this morning.
TR, not noticed it been particularly windy here in these parts recently, more just wet and miserable.

As a regular(ish) poster on here I'm all for a bit of daily chat around training, current thoughts, general chat and race reports, etc.
As way of an introduction to anyone new to the thread I'm 48 and went sub 3 this year with a 2:52 at a miserable Boston UK, possibly my best run over the distance, and a race PB.
Reckon I (unfortunately) peaked when there were no proper races during lockdown where I managed a 2:48 for the GPS recorded virtual London, but I'm clinging to hope I may bring the real (race) PB down to a sub 2:50 🤞🏻
