Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Perhaps we should await the nod from other regular posters just to ensure everyone is happy with us changing the dynamics of the thread.

I'm an m48 with two youngish kids, and enjoyed a good few years since covid. I've run 13 consecutive sub 3s now since my first one in October 2018. Currently trying to get through world majors with 4 down and Chicago in October. Tokyo left! Run a few times now for England masters also which was an aspirational goal when I wasn't good enough and never anticipated i woukd. Most recently Manchester half.

Easiest way to see where I'm at is po10;

Hello OO - glad you made it across!

I’ve posted (very very sporadically) in this thread before, but not much. Used to go in the RW thread much more, but again not all the time.

Been using Fetch to log my training for 15 years or so, and like the vibe here. So I’ll start trying to post on here a bit more.

That said I’ve not got much to say at the mo! Struggling a bit with various issues and haven’t ran a single step this week. Not to worry. Hoping to get out in the morn.

Managed to sub-3 at London in April. Have been terrible since! 😆 Still, onwards and upwards.

Sorry to hear you're struggling LS21.

Funny seeing familiar RW 'faces' here but I'm sure we'll soon get used to you. :-)

OO.. my only claim to fame is that I once worked in a chocolate factory!

Hello again LMH, I hope all is well and you are keeping creakiness at bay.

Hi Wardi. Managing things at the minute thanks. Think I should have a look for a HM as I think I'm in sub 1.30 shape but can't find anything near enough for me to drive myself to and from (am now single) or that isn't eye wateringly expensive. How are things with you?

Wool - you obviously deliver a good gee up, worked for me.

LMH - that's a bit of a life change, sorry to hear that.

LMH.. ooh, hope your change of circumstances wasn't too traumatic, best of luck for the future in that respect. Vale of York is still on (8th Sept), or did you want something a bit sooner?

I had a bad year March 23 to March 24. Potted history.. tendinopathy at top of hamstring last March, 2 months out. Ran again until August, pulled lower hamstring, another 2 months out. The latter healed but formed a big knot so it took a lot of painful massages to
remove it. Also had some movement/mobility problems when running so I've been seeing a chiropractor since March, he's worked wonders for me. Running pain & niggle free since late March for the first time in a year so a modest revival is brewing. I felt like uncorking the bubbly!

A few familiar folk have appeared on here! 😀

Wardi - glad the tendinopathy has gone. I've had it for over 2 years, shockwave helped me, I managed a 3.11 (GFA) at London this year and hoping for continued improvement and another sub-3 in Tokyo if I can get in for next year.

It's still a bit traumatic to be honest but onwards and somewhere eh? Vale of York is a definite maybe, I'd forgotten about that though it's a long time to nurse my knees and hold form so something sooner would be good too if you think of anything. Glad to hear you seem to be coming through the bad patch. I thought London would be my last marathon in fact I wasn't going to do it this year but then wanted to raise some money for Macmillan as a friend has found them very supportive during her treatment but I had such a good day out (if not a stellar time) that I'm thinking maybe next year..........
