I very much doubt I will manage a sub 3 next year but it won't stop me trying. I've managed to string together a few 50 and 60 mile weeks despite the weather and my knees so now hope the weather improves significantly, my physio returns from maternity leave shortly, my knees hold up and I can get some decent miles in. We have so much flooding that it's currently really difficult to find a route that doesn't involve paddling - and more rain forecast.

Tail end of Dec has been a washout for me, the weather plus travel over the last couple of weeks was already a bit of an interruption and then I got a cold/cough over Christmas which forced a 3 day rest. I didn't even turn up for today's 10k race, though I did manage to get out for a short jog at least. 3 weeks in to my plan and my mileage has plummeted to an all-time low for this stage, I've not yet reached 200km.
At least I'm not overtrained or otherwise injured. An advantage of an 18 week plan is that you can afford to miss a bit of time during it, but I do need to get going sharpish.

No point pushing it if you're poorly jda - you'll only end up with more time out.

Same story here. Struggled to motivate myself during December to get into some kind of base training with all the rotten weather we've been having. That, and what seems to be the fabled 100 day cough, that hasn't really shifted since returning from NY at the beginning of November.
On the positive side, just rounded out 2023 with a 70 mile week and 10k of elevation which is the kick up the butt I need to get going in January. London training starts tomorrow (with a day off! )
Happy New Year to everyone on the thread. Chase your sub-whatever dreams and let's make 2024 another good year for running..

Glad to hear you're putting in some decent miles LMH, that's a rare bright spot in the winter gloom!

Sounds positive LMH, while you need to take care of yourself too JDA! Unsafe is that reminder we need telling us that we can come back from tough patches quickly and keep rolling strongly!
I’ve managed a 40 mile week to round the year off including one session. Pleased with that. Easy week next week before my 10k then into marathon training for Newport. 40 tomorrow, so new year, new category to play in!

Happy Birthday Miser!
I don't think I'll be managing the 100 mile plus weeks that have taken me to sub 3 in the past jda but I'm happy to be managing what I am at the moment.
Hope you feel better soon UB.

I share your pain JDA, the joys of covid have struck my family but luckily we are pretty much over it now. Hoping that’s the main illness out of the way for marathon training.
I’ll certainly aim for sub 3, probably at London, but will see where the training takes me

Glad to hear that you're all recovering Chris.
I'm really struggling for running routes. The flooding is unbelievable. I really need to be extending my long run soon.
