Sorry to hear about your injury LMH, it's desperately bad luck. Hope it doesn't put you out of action for too long.
Don't have anything to add to other comments for ptr. sub3 is a long way away, but if you keep plugging away you'll get closer for sure.

ptr_runner - I would say go for it. I always set lofty A goals, but have a B and C goals too. I train for A (or try to) and decide in final few weeks what I can realistically do. I don't mind failing to hit my A goal, as I enjoy the training to tey and hit that goal.

LMH it will be 4 or 5 weeks before you loose much, if any, base fitness. Don't rush back - if you want to get out for mental wellbeing, put on your kit and go for a brisk walk.

Going back a few pages, congrats Bowman on the PB. Of all weather conditions, wind is the one I hate the most, you can do some things with heat/cold/rain, but little you can do in the wind, apart from find a good group to run with.
Cheers damo! Yes the wind will raise the effort you have to put quite a bit. Well, i just need to be stronger too, i can't wait for the world to suit my needs

Hi damo, looks like you are our final hope for the sub-3 sidebar. Trust you will be smashing your A goal in Valencia Hahaha π π No, not even close. I've had several injuries this year so A goal is 2:39:59 - perfectly achievable as long as gale force wind behind me for the whole course.

One more to go in the sidebar for 2023. I've got NYC in 12 days (5th Nov). I think I'm at a similar fitness level going into this as I was just before Boston earlier this year.
Given the overall elevation is broadly similar, I'm going to target beating my Boston time (2:53:24) as Goal A, B is a sub 2:55 and C is get to Central Park under 3 hours.
Goal D - just don't be s**t.

Thanks Bowman Enjoying the taper and looking forward to the big day. Have resisted the urges to check any weather forecasts, but whatever happens, I'll certainly be glad of a rest afterwards. Feels I've been in marathon training for the entire year.
Planning for London next April, mainly to keep my eye in, and then the main target race is Chicago next autumn. After that, a quest for El Dorado / the elusive Tokyo place.

(Yea don't care about the weather.. π€£im good at that..) I haven't done any big ones, well maybe with CPH, but i like the small ones. Although i will probably benefit from a big one to get groups to follow.
