I run marathons to effort - knowing that the first half should feel far too easy. Breathing at that level is 3/3. I guess that's why I tend to just about even split (in a well run marathon) or occasionally manage a slight negative split.

Older and faster is my motto Ralph!

Is it possible to overload on Carbs? If so I'm giving it a good try...My calves are tingling as the carbs reach them, sort of like a lovely pins and needles type feeling!

Today's food intake:

Museli with extra fruit and berries for breakfast
Half a soreen loaf
Pack of Jelly
Half a bag of jelly babies
1 Ham Salad Baguette.

1 litre carton of Beet it
Loads of water
Few big mugs of tea (with added sugar)

Driving down to Bedford tonight, just breaking up the journey a bit, and have prepared a wholewheat pasta sausage and pesto tub for my dinner (the kids will probably be after a happy meal from one of the services, but I don't fancy the offerings at McDonalds).

Feeling a bit stuffed now so may lay off the loading for a few hours!

You're making me look like a rank amateur when it comes to carb loading Brunski! Hope you have a good journey.

Should have come a bit further south Brunski, I would have made you a huge bowl of pasta and made you eat 6 French sticks.

I'll remember that offer for future tears Daz, but fear me and the kids'd eat you out of house and home 😂

LMH - if there's one thing I don't have trouble with it's putting away carbs 😀

I use the adage 'if you think it feels easy, you are still going too hard' for the first half. Then ease into half marathon breathing somewhere after 13.1, 10k breathing about 10k out and 5k breathing near the end. Subtle differences but it gives me something to focus on!

Having arrived in London as it is getting dark, I think it was still warmer that any day I have lived up north (9 years plus!). Looking forward to tomorrow, hoping for cooler Sunday.
