Taper-induced maranoia Brunski! Todays training run would've been much easier if you'd had a number pinned to your vest

Not sure about LMH (who seems to be a bit of a special case perhaps) but postie looks like his big jump to sub3 was backed up with a very tasty HM in the build-up...

That 81 minute HM six weeks out came as a complete shock. I wasn't running with a HRM in 2016 so progress was hard to gauge until that race. My aim was about 85 minutes but everything came together that day, upgraded my goals as a result and the rest is history.

Brunski: hrm straps are sometimes confused by static electricity from synthetic tops. The Garmin Premium strap seems to be immune to it.
Alternatively, you can use a Polar Soft strap, which is only £20 with the Garmin or polar electronic chippy thing. That’s ok with static too.

Cheers icenutter, my normal HRM is the garmin premium it's just getting a bit tatty (but still works).
With regard to your goal pace I've always erred on the side of optimism (and to be honest I think it's costed me in the past). For your I went through halfway in about 1:27, ran strong until about 21 targeting 2:55, and ended up struggling the last 5 miles barely breaking 3. Looking at my HR stats I got right up within a few beats of threshold from mile 12, so was effectively running tempo effort from 12-21. I've adjusted my target HR to give me a bit of a bigger ceiling to threshold (I don't want to be within 3 beats if threshold before mile 20). Not sure if that helps you set your goals at all, but I wouldn't like to encourage or discourage a sub 3 attempt based on what you've said!

Little Miss Happy
I don't race much and when I do it's usually in the midst of marathon training so I'll race a half off 80 or 90 miles run in the week before (though I'll usually front load the week) so I could be capable of faster 10k and half times, I also convert well.
It's all downhill weather wise from here to the weekend Brunski - you'll get some of those bpm back. I'm pretty sure I have one of those premium Garmin straps still in the box somewhere, tried to fleabay it once but no one was interested, too late for Sunday but let me know if you'd like me to post it.

Postie, to be fair I dont think your 3:13 PB was a fair reflection of your ability at the time (for a variety of reasons) and you were probably really a 3:05er at that time but when you upped the miles and made other changes everything came together nicely
DLR strike off, weather improving. Lovely

Got number from Expo today!
Name printed on vest, eaten loads of carbs, making sure my pee is constantly clear (hydration) and legs still sore (especially inside of right knee!)
One more run tomorrow then it’s the excitement, stress and anxiety of waiting to get to the start line!
Anyone changing their target times due to the heat?
Also is it me but does running London make you feel more pressure to deliver compared to other Marathons?!

I wil stick with my 2:59:59 target, but race day strategy slightly adapted.
Will have a final run Saturday
I dont feel more pressure in London, but it is different to others.
