Sorry to hear that Fordy, hopefully no regrets!

Really unlucky with the knee issue starting when it did, congrats on getting to 30k semi-fit, and yes you'll be back!

It’ll just be all the sweeter a victory when you bag it next time FordyBoy. Give that knee a little break to recover first though, and you’ll be back stronger!

Bad luck fordy but a very sensible decision that a few of us would struggle to make

Sorry to hear that Fordy. Time to look for an autumn marathon?

Oh, that’s shame fordy. I should always remember to be more grateful for my injury-free run of training! Better to pull out than create a longer-term problem though.

Thanks guys. Obviously not what I was after but I knew my knee wasn’t 100% when I started. To really rub it in I was at the finish area looking for my wife just as the 3 hour pacer came in! As LMH says, time to look at an autumn marathon. Recommendations welcome.

Bad luck, Fordyboy. In terms of autumn marathons, Frankfurt is a good one. Flat course, decent weather normally and handy logistics re hotels, etc. Ran it a few years back and enjoyed it.

Further north Chester and York have their advocates.

As for me, the once a year plan is working so well I’m not tempted. I had told myself beforehand that if I got really close I might be tempted as a second bite at 2:45 but that’s clearly still a bit of a long term project. I don’t run well in the heat and even if the race itself is cool enough the training would be a slog.
