Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

1:37:41 official time comfortably under 1h40. I knew 1h35 was a stretching target but from the first mile I knew it was beyond me. I am glad I stuck with it though and didn't lose too much time. I was expecting the course to be less hilly than last year as I knew the course had been altered but I think the changes were probably about traffic management rather than anything else. I really struggled on the hills so that is something I need to work on. I have had hill work in my training plan but I never actually do it and if I want to improve from here I think that is the next step.

Well done njosmith and Canute on your recent times even if they're not quite what either of you were hoping for. Sounds like you both know where it didn't come together for you on the day. And better luck next time! :)

Going to have a pop in 2 weeks time at beating 1:40, I have no idea if I can do it but I managed 30 miles of trail at 8:36 so maybe I can manage 13.1 miles on the road at whatever sub 1:40 is!

Nice one, TMW. Neg splits is doing it in style. Nice feeling to be passing people through that second half when your legs are starting to feel it, isn't it?

Yes indeed it does. I'd held something back for the last bit as there's a steep hill at 8 miles - and yes not overtaken by too many people.

My pb for half marathon is 1:44 but going for it at Gosport half on 17 Nov. Lots of hills and speedwork in training, so we shall see...
