My stick is a cheap cheap one that I got free about 10 years ago!it's a cookworks 220w one Don't think it's great as soup gas texture!

Yes, it's a non-essential item, but I don't think I'd trust my dexterity using a stick blender given that I have Parkinson's and am prone to the odd shaky episode. For that reason, the soup maker really is useful.

I like to make massive batches in a saucepan, and freeze for later, so don’t think I’d bother with a soup maker. Although I can see the appeal for ease and speed. And not having to eat the same flavour for days on end

We usually make 4 to 6 portions and eat typically on the day of making (stick blending hot soup adds to the peril) then a couple of days later. Two portions go in the freezer
I’m toying with a cheeky cauliflower and potato job this evening
