I can’t imagine ever using a soup maker. I make soup at least a couple of times a week and it rarely takes more than 30 minutes. Pan and stick blender all the way for me.

Unless you can saute in it I would say just make it in a pot. It doesn't take long to make a pot of soup or wash a knife, chopping board and stick blender afterwards. I have another of the Covent Garden soup books and it is fab. amazon.co.uk

I eat soup all year round and have it for lunch most days.

Never occurred to me to buy a soup maker, just use a biggish pan, that makes 9 portions, I freeze most of them then reheat in microwave.

I never waste food by throwing it out, all goes in the next batch of soup. I like thick soup so after veg, stock and even fruit, I then add lentils, enough so it will be thick, sometimes split peas too. Blend with stick blender.

I do both, make french onion soup etc in a pan but do have a soup maker too and do love it, just bung in, come back 20 mins later and it always does soup for 2 and 2 extra portions.

I've had a soup maker for a few years following extreme envy of my Mum's. I like that you can just shove the stuff in and leave it, and 20 mins later it's all ready. I have a bit of a stick-blender phobia, and nutribullets don't like hot stuff. If it broke, I'd definitely replace it.

I’m very split!
Sounds very convenient but a non essential gadget if you know what I mean

My friend is totally in love with hers and many people say it’s great

About This Thread

Maintained by EvilPixie
It’s got to that time of the year when soup is king!

Last winter I was wfh and happily heated up soup knowing that no one would know if I was late back to work (not that I took breaks anyway!).

Now I’m back in the office I’m reluctant to use the tiny kitchen as it’s well used and little cleaned. So thought I’d dig out my food flask and take hot soup/ food in with me. This also allows warm food post lunchtime walk or run.

Which leads me to ….. soup makers.

To buy or not ...
