Thanks Silvershadow - I have been wearing my running shoes both times, maybe it’s just because I’m not used to it.
Baz, I need to start incorporating lunges and squats as well - trying to introduce one thing at a time at the moment, so skipping yesterday, skipping and tricep dips today so will try to add something else tomorrow.

UC, I got the tricep dips challenge from the Darebee site too - I did see the wall push ups challenge, thinking of giving that a go.

A new record of 56 skips today which had followed a 49 which failed as I was so excited I was going to hit 50 !!! A couple of things I noticed today:
1) I seemed to find it hard to get going but once I did I was then into the 30s/40s consistently
2) I have been looking at the ground but if I focus on a point ahead of me (it was my neighbours glass recycling box today) then I was better able to judge and time the jumps.
Next target 100

Agree totally about both the point to focus on and that once you find your rhythm it flows a bit but if you don't find it you're actually just spending the time standing on the rope!
I'd been focusing on the time, trying to get to a continuous 1 minute of skipping before today. This morning I counted. 85 was my best, and it got me very close to a full minute. maybe 50seconds or so.
Anyone else having calf cramps by the end?

I start to get tired after about 50 jumps so likely to get tangled. Hoping as I get conditioned I will get to the magic 100.
It’s very wet and windy here today so will clear a spot in the house for my skipping session.

Wow, impressed by the 85. How do you manage the timing check ? I faf about before I get going so never know when I start - unless my focus across the road is a big clock face !!!
No calf cramps here, but after 50 skips I do find that I am breathing pretty hard.
I might make use of the work free weekend to have intermittent skips throughout each day and see if I can get the technique going.
I also note my rope is a bit twisted and so have hung it up with a weight hoping it might straighten out a bit.
UC - very windy here also, but my spot is at side of house outside the garage which is set back about 6 feet and so gives some shelter. Only issue is that as its an uphill drive I just have that small square of flat drive to use.

If you are puffing, just slow the speed of the rope. Think marathon rather than 1 mile! Sometimes you need to double bounce between revolutions to keep the rope speed slow.

I trip on it if I slow the rope down. The ability to do that might come in time.
Today was only my third go at this and when I started I was barely able to reach two skips so have already come a long way.

Bazo: I've got an app on my phone called "Interval Timer" set with 1 min on/1 min off with 10 sec as "warm up". Start that going and I've got 10 seconds to assume the position. I sand it so I can see it where I'm skipping and it's a good big display if you turn the phone sideways. Dings and bongs for starting and stopping.
