Had to run this morning,I really don't like early runs, everything feels a trudge, anyway got my 6.5m hilly loop done.
The rain is due tonight,do will see how heavy it is before I decide what to do in the morning.

WP - I looked at the results of your race yesterday, only to see if you'd raced or not as you hadn't checked in. Shame no V60 group as it goes 45/55/65 but great news that you'd have done circa 56 minutes to win the v55 group.

That shows you're on for a great time at Cardiff.

Shades I know and have checked Swansea and Cardiff and the age group is 60.

54 minutes I missed that one 🤣 nope too fast for me at moment pb is 59.12.I was squinting without glasses...lol

Ian I think we all favour times to run and morning is my favourite time .Always hated evening running.

WP - that runner may not be there next year and you could be faster by then.

If your current PB is 59 that shows you're on for a lot faster time at Cardiff than you did in Newport.

Ian - I prefer morning runs. Only time I run evenings is when doing a double, and I'm a long way off doing that again.

Shades Not current it goes back to BC before Covid 2019.I am hoping Swansea will give me an accurate 10k time to work with and maybe the 5k in a few weeks although that will be pretty painful :)

Sorry to hear back is still giving you problems but looking good for tomorrow :)

Finally my RHR is down to acceptable level +4-yay I cancelled PT session made the decision yesterday. But means fitting in two in a week somewhere in next few weeks.

Fingers crossed for tomorrow then, Shades.

Lovely running conditions here today, and lots of runners out. Sometimes it just seems there’s more out than other days, at more or less the same time of day, and today was one of those. I saw two separate herons, at either side of the bay, which was nice. HR well in control today and I had a good run. I ran in my Hokas today, which really should get an outing more regularly, as I do like running in them (I have the Mach 5s).

I did throw two pairs of shorts away today, as they were in danger of falling apart at any moment, so I need to restock on those. It’s likely that I will ‘accidentally’ add another pair of shoes in with the order :)

WP - I've never run a 5k, but I imagine a tough race.

That's good news on your RHR, finally coming down.

Big G - good to hear you say run went well HR wise. The joy of base training, it surprises you.

Definitely time for some kit shopping. Some great bargains around.

Ian, I saw that DT over on the 3/3:15 RW thread has got into Tokyo. He did the same charity as you and I, and I think he mentioned us both in his letter. There’s a chain forming :)

About This Thread

Maintained by Shades
Back in December 2005 I started a thread on Runner's World offering a marathon training plan on 3 runs a week. I had my own running club at the time (Womens Running Network) and I had successfully trialled the training plan when I took a group of girls to Dublin to run their first marathon.

Over the years the thread has evolved into a chat thread, with a bit of training advice, race reports, for predominantly marathon runners.
