Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Yes, I'm sure it is a fair bit more. I can check tomorrow.

I'm not intending to enter next year.

I don't think it's a massive increase. I remember having £50 as my threshold for entering last year after underperforming at Belfast, and it was more than that so I didn't.

If I do a June marathon close to home next year I'll do Solway Coast.

I seem to remember it was £50ish plus something for the parking.

I'm out anyway, I expect my legs will still be gubbed from Dartmoor Discovery.

DD will give you DOMS that you'll never forget, mostly in the quads from the downhills 😭

Keith - I thought you'd remember having done the race this year.

I think I must have missed you’re doing DD, Velo! Have you done it before? I did a marathon 8 days after DD and it nearly finished me off. I even spent some time sitting on a wall questioning my life choices. :) I was going okay at around half way….and then I wasn’t. So, on that basis, no Windermere for me either.

I've run a marathon 8 days after DD a few times, twice was Yeovil and I could still feel DD in my legs for the last few miles.

I also ran DD one year on the Saturday then flew to Ireland to run Cork on the Monday. I got round Cork but not recommended, my legs were wrecked.

A friend of mine wanted us to do a triple, DD on the Saturday, Tenby on the Sunday and Cork on the Monday. Fortunately there was no way for us to get to Cork after Tenby, phew.

About This Thread

Maintained by Shades
Back in December 2005 I started a thread on Runner's World offering a marathon training plan on 3 runs a week. I had my own running club at the time (Womens Running Network) and I had successfully trialled the training plan when I took a group of girls to Dublin to run their first marathon.

Over the years the thread has evolved into a chat thread, with a bit of training advice, race reports, for predominantly marathon runners.
