Had a nice day today for my birthday. Went up to a very nice farm cafe on Dartmoor for breakfast, before driving up to Haytor and having a walk around there with Tigg. And then went back down the hill to Parke for a walk around there. A bit of rain on occasion but we enjoyed it. I’ve been refreshing the Valencia page for info on next year’s race as I don’t know when entries open.

Happy birthday Big G.

How hard/easy is it to get an entry to Valencia?

BTW ballot opened today for Eryri.

I’ve just seen that for this year’s race they opened entries 11 days after 2023s race and it sold out in February. They had a tiered pricing structure with the first 10000 places being, I think, €10 cheaper. Me being me, I’ve booked a refundable hotel already.

Big G - smart move on the hotel room.

Ian might have booked a hotel too even if he's not going 😉

So you should get a race entry OK.

That's great news WP, you sound like you're ready for a good run.

I'm just heading out for my run, have to wait until 5:30 when the street lights come on for today's route. 💡

7 miles done, bit of a sharp breeze in places but generally good running weather.

Gym later, legs and glutes 😭, not sure they've fully recovered from the last session yet

WP - you'll be fine once you're out there. I take you've successfully despatched OH to Paignton.

10 miles isn't really a long run for marathon runners, although it will be the longest distance I'll be doing for a while.

Talking of long runs, I've just entered a 20 miler in March, that might be my only long run, we'll see 🤣

About This Thread

Maintained by Shades
Back in December 2005 I started a thread on Runner's World offering a marathon training plan on 3 runs a week. I had my own running club at the time (Womens Running Network) and I had successfully trialled the training plan when I took a group of girls to Dublin to run their first marathon.

Over the years the thread has evolved into a chat thread, with a bit of training advice, race reports, for predominantly marathon runners.
