It was one of those where I wasn’t sure what to wear. Opted for long sleeved top, jacket and gloves and was glad of that in the first 20mins or so as it was a cold, strong wind, and rain. But possibly felt a bit overdressed on the parkrun itself.

So it was 6 in total, and the final out-and-back on the path of the parkrun was very muddy and waterlogged, and as always I mainly walk the worst of it as I don’t want to fall.

Felt a struggle again today. Legs heavy etc. But knee was fine. I’ve realised the last few months I’ve felt like I’m starting again from the beginning a lot of the time, and today was another one of those days.

But at least you were out there doing what you could on the day.

5k run around park around 300m or 400m so lots of them. But rewarded with fastest mile in training and 5k time this year.Seems I like to be battling head winds and torrential rain.🤣

Raining steadily but wind has dropped now, for a while.

WP sometimes rubbish conditions means you want it over and done with quicker.

Big G this time of year can make it a struggle. The starting over bit will fade and be running strong again. Well done on the free race place.

Ian didn’t realise you work so many hours, not sure I’d find the time to run so much.

Been a quiet week running wise, not been feeling 100%. 6.5 miles yesterday and a run to panshanger, parkrun and a bit of running back 8 miles in total, had to take a bit of a diversion on the way back.

Yes, saw him before the run, seemed to have lost their friends who were in another field. Wasn’t brave enough to pass just moved to the side. A beautiful animal indeed

I'm very fond of cows.

I'm going to delay my run tomorrow until 9 a.m. which is when the winds should have dropped to a more reasonable level. Some trees down around here but I think the main problem will be flooding, so will definitely get very wet but would prefer not to go swimming 😉

And I have free electricity 7-9 a.m. tomorrow so will make use if that too.

WP - we're going to get very wet!

I don't mind a bit of flood water to go through but looks like it could be 2 or 3 feet deep and also tidal.

I think I'll have to head for the hilly lanes and try and avoid any fallen trees. Tricky to know what to wear as very warm 15 degrees here, I've just been out for a walk.

About This Thread

Maintained by Shades
Back in December 2005 I started a thread on Runner's World offering a marathon training plan on 3 runs a week. I had my own running club at the time (Womens Running Network) and I had successfully trialled the training plan when I took a group of girls to Dublin to run their first marathon.

Over the years the thread has evolved into a chat thread, with a bit of training advice, race reports, for predominantly marathon runners.
