WP - it's more waiting for the storm to ease than the free electricity has triggered the shoe purchase. I've just been out to put the rubbish out and it's a bit scary even for me right now. Heavy rain has started again.

pair of Clifton 9's purchased from Pete Bland.

Take care out there.

I don't think I'll get out for a run today. Seeing on our local Spotted that trees down everywhere. All my possible routes have trees, can't avoid them, and flatter routes flooded. This is one of my usual Sunday routes

Wow that is bad and I think another day at home needed.

Nice shoe purchase.

I was lucky better conditions here torrential rain but winds were not too bad.Opted for pretty village as cycle track flooded and trees down . 4.5 miles done happy as legs tired after yesterday.

WP - good you were able to have a decent run.

Re flooding pic, that was early today. We have a red flood warning for this afternoon, don't remember having a red one before. Will flood properties unfortunately.

No running for me since Thursday which is the longest stretch in about a year probably. A combination of the weather and picking up a bug from my youngest which knocked me for six. Better now but will probably leave it till Tuesday to get back to it.

Rcouture - hope you're better soon. Longest stretch except after a race I think. 🤣

WP - it's a red flood alert. The rain has eased a bit now but as a lot of the area is tidal, water is still rising plus the rain already fallen coming down from the hills. Levels already higher than last serious flood in 2013 and still rising.

My walk route to the gym is flooded but there is an alternative route I can take if not clear tomorrow. Don't fancy doing a session in the gym with wet feet.

Just read my run route tomorrow is flooded at the one mile point. But that's probably my only choice of route for tomorrow so I'll choose my shoes carefully and just run through it, rest of route will be OK as long as the subways don't flood.

About This Thread

Maintained by Shades
Back in December 2005 I started a thread on Runner's World offering a marathon training plan on 3 runs a week. I had my own running club at the time (Womens Running Network) and I had successfully trialled the training plan when I took a group of girls to Dublin to run their first marathon.

Over the years the thread has evolved into a chat thread, with a bit of training advice, race reports, for predominantly marathon runners.
