Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Ian - nice to reward yourself with a nice lunch after a run. Legs fully recovered from your ultra now?

When's the next planned marathon or ultra?

Shades-Yes they feel fine, there was a very slight tightness going downhill but all good.
As for next year,we are planning 4 Villages Half in January again, then Barca( need to check time off tomorrow) then Keswick to Barrow 40m in May.They are ideal as all are 8 weeks apart,I have some I can slot in depending on how training is going etc.

That's good recovery Ian.

That 40 miler is perfectly timed in your lead up to Comrades.

Training wise, any idea of planned weekly mileage?

No,I haven't decided yet,I'd love to get to the 60's,but I'll see how I go through the winter.
Back at the hospital next week with the shoulder so will see how that goes.

Ian - I know you have a busy work schedule but if you can get a few weeks at 60mpw that will do you well.

We've had some rain during the night and to be honest I can't tell if it's black ice or not. I have just seen the gritter gritting the main road 100m from my flat. So I'm not going to risk trying to run as my road might be OK but round the corner might be bad. Last day for a while of sub zero temps. Storm Bert next.

Yeah similar here, despite the cold been fine walking to and from work however it hailed overnight and village FB group says some of the roads are icy albeit it's brand new tarmac which i havn't been down on yet.

I'm waiting for daylight before doing any running but might go for a walk before hand to see what it's like. It is moist later on but it will be wet Sunday for my half anyway.

Tomorrow is lol too, around this time 1C yet by 3 it will be 12C. Somewhat wet and windy as well which will be rain/sleet/snow depending on which part i am driving through.

Just starting to get light here and I can now see that it's very icy, roads and pavements. Will thaw today.

Keith - might be interesting conditions for your half on Sunday.

About This Thread

Maintained by Shades
Back in December 2005 I started a thread on Runner's World offering a marathon training plan on 3 runs a week. I had my own running club at the time (Womens Running Network) and I had successfully trialled the training plan when I took a group of girls to Dublin to run their first marathon.

Over the years the thread has evolved into a chat thread, with a bit of training advice, race reports, for predominantly marathon runners.
