Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Lovely wee boat there TR. We had a week on a narrowboat in the Stratford area, many years ago. Good memories. I’ve also kayaked on the Avon. Lovely area.

Did anyone watch the women's sailing 49er (skiff) final? Fab to watch, but controversy as two boats went through the wrong finish line!

Posted this on Olympics thread, but repeating here, as it's a bit niche! :-) G

Didn’t see that but I did see yesterday’s men’s medal race that was abandoned.

Windsurfing was cool too. Sad for Emma Wilson who was hoping for more than bronze. :-) G

AC - Menorca is lovely. Will you get on the water at all.

Some early work on Operation Happy GO Sailing (tentative post retirement hobby business starting next year taking people on sailing experience days on the lochs and bays of Scotland). Got half a dozen second hand buoyancy aids and wet suits from a kayak and canoe experience business friend. He's also keen to hear how my business starts up. :-) G

Not very likely for sailing/paddling, but we’ll be swimming every day. :)

Tragic about the Bayesian yacht sinking.

In happier sailing news, thinking about joining local club. I have 2 within 20 mins. Spoilt for choice! Kinghorn or Dalgety Bay. I've always avoided coastal just because feels safer on Loch or reservoir. But coast is closer than loch clubs!

Favouring Kinghorn because a. former boss who I hated was Dalgety Bay member and b. they have a wee loch too! :-) G

Anyone watching the Americas Cup? It seems to be to dinghy sailing what flying to Mars is to aviation, except with less Elon.

I’ve tried. Dull ain’t it? Technically/technologically brilliant I guess; more like model boat racing to observe, in terms of excitement.

About This Thread

Arrrr, yo ho ho ho, ahoy there me hearties heart etc.

Pirate speech optional.

Might just be me and Angus Clydesdale, but anyone else into sailing? I'm just getting back to dinghy sailing and loving it. I got canoe during lockdown cos a mate at work cajoled me into it. Then paddleboards because of the good people on the Kayaking and Canoeing thread. But when it's windy, paddling is hard. Sailing is so much better.

So... anyone? :-) G
