Good luck at the dentist hillstrider. We left keswick today, typical- the first day of glorious sunshine. So couldn't resist at 10 mile run in the hills before we left. Very enjoyable

Thanks 00, the dental appointment went ok, but I had to make an appointment for a filling 🙃

Well done for your hilly 10 miles run before leaving Keswick.

The usual Friday Farmers Walk this morning, but on icy pavements.

The car is being MoT'd and serviced today.

HS I can well imagine what your windy parkrun must have been like on Wednesday, a pity they had to cancel Lymington but good that there was a local alternative available. Well done on running in what sounds like far from ideal conditions. I see you've had a visit to the dentist, and also managed to do your Farmers Walk today despite the icy pavements. Hope your car service was okay.

0061 Good idea to take advantage of a sunny day to fit in a 10 mile run before leaving Keswick yesterday. Have you heard when the Whitley Bay parkrun is likely to resume?

WtnMel As you say half a walk at Croome is better than no walk at all, but you were brave to take your lunch outside to eat. Lucky it was only the lettuce leaves that blew away.

Steve spent most Tuesday night coughing and had to keep getting up to get hot drinks and cough medicine, as a result I got very little sleep and couldn't face running on New Year's Day. This was disappointing as the weather wasn't too bad, it was very cold but only a slight frost. Both yesterday and today however we've had a heavy frost and ice, which isn't great for running. There's a lot to like about living here, but as I've mentioned before there's hardly anywhere for flat running. Everywhere around Shotley Bridge is hilly (including our estate) so if you're not going up a hill you're coming down one. I never used to worry about falls, but this last year I've found I'm much more cautious. A definite sign of getting older! I'm keeping fingers crossed that tomorrow may be okay for a parkrun. Although looking at Blackhill park as we drove past today the paths are all white, including the downhill section, so they'll probably cancel. With luck Chopwell may be on as the gravel should provide a better surface if it's frosty. We've a weather warning for freezing rain and heavy snow, but that's not due to start until Saturday afternoon, changing to sleet on Monday. If it arrives any earlier I might have to resort to the treadmill :-(

I hope the weather is better where you are, although it sounds like most of the country is in for a bad weekend.

They are not committing to a date Aquarius. I guess they are not confident when the cycle path will finish. Spring some time....and the route will change. Hope you are feeling better. We did keswick which was damp but ok on New Year's day. Tomorrow looks tricky but rising sun is out 1st choice if it goes ahead.

Aquarius, the Southampton parkrun on New years Day went ok, but was a bit scary when we were being blown sideways. There were 801 runners, so a good turnout in the conditions.

The car service and MoT went ok thanks, no problems.

I'm sorry to hear that Steve spent most of Tuesday night coughing and getting up, meaning that you were tired and therefore didn't feel up to running New Year Day.

I definitely feel the cold more now that I'm older, and cautious about falling. I hope that you did manage to do a parkrun this morning.

0061, It's good that you did Keswick parkrun on New Years Day, and I hope that you were able to run it again this morning?

We did the Bartley Park parkrun this morning which went ahead, despite below freezing temperature, and frosty and icy trails in places. We were warned to slow down and walk round the bollards at the u turns. There were 130 runners which was a good turnout. Amazingly, one of the club's lady runners who is in her 20's, came 1st, beating all the men. She was 'flying' when she lapped me. Her father is also a good runner, and they often train together.

It's forecast snow after 6pm, so don't know whether I will run tomorrow.

Well done hillstrider. My daughter has been first finisher at parkrun a couple of times. I was very proud 😇
We are home now. A local parkrun today at Rising Sun which was fine, actually quite enjoyable. I'd like a long run tomorrow as I start my campaign for London marathon- but weather dependent of course.

0061, thanks. That's amazing that your daughter has finished first at a couple of parkruns, I'm not surprised that you are very proud of her.

That's good that you quite enjoyed your local Rising Sun parkrun. Good luck today with your long run, weather permitting.

I'm afraid that I just didn't fancy running today in the wind and rain 😕 Old age is catching me up 😬

0061 I hope you are able to do your long run today, I noticed on Facebook that the club's trail run is going ahead, so I assume the weather isn't too bad at the coast. Lucky you had the Rising Sun on yesterday, as most of the NE parkruns were cancelled. It's a shame the Whitley Bay parkrun hasn't got a date for resuming, and that the course will have to be altered when it does come back.

HS You were braver than me tackling an icy parkrun course, well done. Blackhill parkrun was cancelled as I expected, but Chopwell went ahead however they only posted that they'd decided to go ahead at 8.50. It takes at least 15 minutes to get there from our house so we had no chance of making it. Steve is still coughing a lot so I had planned getting a lift from my son, who also intended to run, but in the end we both (separately) ran on the Derwent walk instead. I was just leaving the house when I bumped into him coming back from his run, he said it was mostly frosty but runnable, although there were some icy sections. I had a cautious 4.5 mile run, but yet again - even with this new Garmin - I had no GPS until halfway through my run.

Today we have heavy snow, looking at the garden table it's currently lying about 8 or 9 inches deep, and it's still snowing. Our grandsons live on the same estate as us and have built a 6ft snowman in our front garden, I wonder how long it will last before a thaw sets in.

No snow here another coast Aquarius. I managed 12 miles, but it was awful. Glad you got a run in, sorry for Steve....
