Aquarius - yes, I'll be on the gout medication for at least three months, then will have another blood test to see if my uric acid level has dropped to normal. Good to hear your new Garmin is behaving itself - lucky you all had quick reactions to avoid that dog at parkrun.
OO61 - 500 parkruns! Chapeau ..
Not a lot to report but just been out for a 3ml walk. Was out and about a bit later than usual so it was nice to see more runners and say hello as we passed each other. Avg pace was 16:33 (a bit quicker than my last two walks) and negative splits today so pleased to see I am regaining some of my previous pace and speeding up a bit. And my feet seem okay too - even better!

HS I hope it wasn't quite as cold as yesterday for your run today, I've been wearing two pairs of gloves for a week or so now, I have that Raynaud's syndrome which makes my fingers ache in the cold and go numb. Often at the end of a run my fingers are so numb I struggle to get the key in the door.
Strong winds here this morning, I'm hoping they'll ease later in the day so I can get out for a run. Tomorrow looks like strong winds all day.
I'm undecided about where to run on New Year's Day. We have two local parkruns taking place, but sleet is forecast for both. There's also a 10k Resolution Run on the Town Moor which takes place on grass and hills, and is always very muddy. The Town Moor has heavy rain forecast for NYD which will make conditions even more tricky, so it might be best to give it a miss. At the moment I'm leaning towards Chopwell parkrun because I think being trail the underfoot conditions will be better on the hills than Blackhill parkrun.

WtnMel, it's good to hear that you walked 3 miles this morning at a quicker pace than recently. Things are looking up.
Aquarius, it wasn't quite as cold as yesterday, so I needn't have worn the thicker gloves. I've had that problem at times, struggling to insert the key in the door when the temperature has been very low.
I see that you are expecting adverse weather conditions on New Years Day, and are having to decide which parkrun to enter.
We are expecting heavy rain and strong winds, but are planning to do the Lymington parkrun again, which we did on Christmas Day.
I ran an enjoyable but tough hilly 6.62 miles in Lepe Inclosure this morning, with Laura, Mike and Andy.

HS Good luck with Lymington parkrun tomorrow, I hope the weather won't be too bad for you. Well done for yesterday's run in Lepe Inclosure, despite it being tough you all look like you enjoyed it. WtnMel our posts crossed yesterday, good news about your feet. I hope you get back to your normal walking routine in 2025 without any further feet issues.
It was too windy for a run yesterday, but I did manage a short walk. So I was determined to get out early this morning, before the worst of the weather arrived. As it happened it was already very windy when I left the house, with sudden strong gusts that made progress difficult. My first mile was okay as it was mainly downhill and protected by houses, but once I started climbing it got harder and harder as the wind was in my face. At times it was really scary when I got blown sideways, so had to come to a sudden stop to prevent ending up either in a field or on the road. I think this was the scariest run I've done and the most tiring, I was just congratulating myself for getting 8 miles done when right at the end I managed to turn my left ankle on a branch I hadn't noticed amongst some leaves. It's aching a bit now, but hopefully no real damage done. If it's okay tomorrow I think I'll do Chopwell Woods parkrun, providing it hasn't been cancelled due to the weather.
Wishing you all an injury free, healthy, and happy New Year!

Aquarius, thanks.
Well done for yesterday's short walk in windy conditions, and today's 8 miles in even stronger winds. Well done for keeping going, despite nearly being blown away. I'm sorry that you turned your right ankle at the end of the run, and hope that it will be ok for tomorrow's Chopwell Woods parkrun.

Hillstrider - well done re the hilly 6.62 forest run .. if it had been .04mls longer, you could have called it an 'evil' run
Aquarius - does sound like a scary run if you were getting blown sideways. Sorry to hear you turned your ankle at the end though. Hope it's nothing too much and feels better soon.
Margaret and I went to Croome this morning. Although the wind wasn't too bad when we arrived, because they were expecting it to be much worse later on, they had already closed off the paths that go through trees (quite a few of the trees are 200yrs old). So we had a shortened walk down the buggy path to the house, round to the back of the house, and back again the way we came. We figured, half a walk was better than none. Despite it being a bit windy, we decided to eat outside as the cafe felt 'muggy' with all the people in there. Our usual baked potato and salad to eat and only a few lettuce leaves blew away!

WtnMel, thanks, I hadn't thought of 666, the number of the beast. That was actually my race number, a few years ago.
A shame that some of the paths leading through the trees had been closed, meaning a shortening of your walk.
That was brave, sitting outside the cafe in the wind, eating your baked potato and salad.
We did the Southampton parkrun this morning, as the Lymington, as expected was closed. It was touch and go whether Southampton would go ahead, due to the very strong winds and rain. The final decision was taken to proceed at 8am this morning, not leaving much time to get there before the 9am start. There were 801 runners, many arriving from 'out of region' as their parkruns were cancelled. The course was very congested during the 1st k, before it thinned out a bit. The wind was very strong, and on one of the straighter trails, was almost blowing us sideways 😳
Happy New Year to you all, and hoping that it will be peaceful, prosperous and injury free. 🙏

Happy new year all. Keswick also went ahead today. Great fun inspite of the rain. Only 3 days until the next one, whoopee....

0061, I'm glad that you enjoyed the Keswick parkrun.
It was very cold this morning, so I cut my run short. Just 2.76 miles on roads.
I have a routine dental check up this afternoon.
