Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I've just skimmed the UKA rules for road running and can't see that it covers not being allowed to run for part of it. Not something you'd have thought they'd have to include though :o

It sounds unworkable to me. A Sheffield Half style rebellion seems almost inevitable. Imagine you're the guy leading the race, second place is breathing down your neck. The precious Garden of Delights looms in front of you. Are you really going to stop and walk? If the guy behind you continues running, you're buggered. Ok, he might get DQed, but in the heat of the moment I'm not sure that's really going to figure. If it was me I'd keep running. And then the person behind is definitely also going to keep running. And so on...

If any Fetchies do run it, please let us know what actually happened, I'm genuinely interested to see how people react.

You'd think the chap would be glad to have people out of his garden quicker, surely?

Unless he secretly hates runners and has set up a sniper position so wants slower moving targets...

Why let a race go through your garden at all if you don't want them running through it? There's not a whole lot of difference between a race walking through or running through in terms of damage I'd imagine. Think it's weight of numbers that would make the difference.

He's allowing people to pass through his garden, he doesn't have to... give him a break, covering numbers and running will only make sure the good will towards runners in that area is lost, if you don't like it get a refund.
Sorry I know that's a bit harsh but I wouldn't want 200 odd runners running through my garden (and I like runners!)

I'm personally dead jealous! My mam lives in Haltwhistle and I'm in Cape Town so I would LOVE to be running this, the profile looks so flat that I think a PB is on, even with the walk. You could always take the break as an opportunity to relieve yourself behind the roses ;)
