Well that was a surprise today. London have certainly done it the hard way beating Fev and Toulouse but it doesn’t feel right that Fev aren’t in SL after being so much better than everyone else.
I wonder what will happen below SL now Newcastle have folded. League 1 as 8 clubs doesn’t seem viable. But will they go for a 20 team league?

The IMG people will be pleased to have London rather than Fev. I wonder if they are regretting getting rid of Seam Long? He certainly knew how to win big games. Hopefully they haven’t completely mortgaged the clubs future on this attempt, would be a shame to lose them.

Long's at Trinity as assistant coach, I think - but that may be in doubt following relegation.

It is interesting one. I was at the final on Saturday. There was a decent turn out. 58k i think. Catalan brought about 2k. If London are back in SL it does raise profile. If Toulouse or another club based in North (which is where i live) does this do the same. Probably not. Although London been there before. Several of the SL teams are now struggling financially so it will be interesting to see how things pan out next year.

Not sure that SL teams are any worse off than in the past. Seem to have weathered the pandemic ok for the most part. It's expecting part time teams lower down to take part in a league stretching from Cornwall to Cumbria on almost no central funding that unsurprisingly has been difficult.

New tv deal is worse. I received comms from Salford - who i follow and recently joined the crowd funding to support their initiatives. The TV deal is lower than the worse case scenario they used in planning. The sums in question are not big by standards of football but for Salford it means quite a hit to their playing budget next year. I am sure the clubs will cut their cloth but some teams are struggling. London Skolars have gone full amateur and Newcastle Thunder have gone into liquidation. Appears loss of benefactor being critical thing there. Its a complex situation no doubt

I totally agree lack of central funding makes the lower leagues very hard for the teams.
