Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

As suggested on the blog of the esteemed @kev-eats-owt this is a place to discuss all things relating to rugby league. The Superleague season kicks off this weekend, the NRL in early March and hopefully we have a world cup to look forward to in the Autumn.

Daughter tempted back from London to accompany her old dad down t'lane to watch Cas on Friday. introduced her to the game when she was six, neither NSPCC or council ever contacted me. Expecting a win against Salford, but who knows with Radders in charge, rather then Powell, it's a new era and a very changed squad. We'll definitely miss Millington. Fev look strong in the Championship.

Always an entertaining tussle when Wakefield Trinity visited Cas :) Time was I used to get my weekend RL 'fix' there when Trin were on their travels.

There seem to be two proposals for Wakefield's future home: a long awaited 'redevelopment' of Belle Vue; or the resurrection of a new build plan in Stanley.

I've been a Widnes fan since I was a small child. Played for Lunts Heath Lions and Halton Hornets all through my childhood - those two clubs have now merged as Halton Farnworth Hornets. I've seen almost all of the current UK professional clubs play, and been fortunate enough to watch many games live in Australia and France too.

Fev definitely favourites for the Championship, although I think Leigh will get stronger as the year goes on. Hard to see past those two. Superleague is a bit more open, with Saints & Catalans perhaps the favourites. Always had a soft spot for Cas, but I think I'll adopt Toulouse as my team this year; most people have them as candidates for last place. Could be an interesting season at Cas - new coach, lots of new players and (fingers crossed) finally some movement on a new stadium.

I think the new stadium move for Cas is out, talk is now of a redesign of existing ground. Fev have a strong if ageing squad, I too can't see past them and Leigh, Widnes just don't have the pack. I think Toulouse play some good attacking stuff, but I think they'll ship too many points to stay up. It used to be entertaining when Trin visited Cas, but too many recent visits have been one sided affairs and we've won easily. Just like you swittle, at the end of the 70's/early 80's used to visit Belle Vue rather than follow Cas away at places like Workington or Barrow.

I think a good 2022 season for Widnes would be winning more games than we lose. I'm in the process of moving up to North Yorkshire after 25+ years of living around Cambridge and hoping to be able to get to a lot more games this year.

I think Wakefield will struggle again and will be battling it out with Toulouse for bottom spot. That said, people have been tipping them to finish bottom for at least 10 years, and it hasn't happened yet. Mason Lino, the Samoan scrum half, is always good to watch.

I think Wakefield will be OK this season, Lino and Miller are good at half back, it's the pack that may struggle, Westerman coming home is a big blow.

These predictions will help to sharpen my interest in Trinity - for too long, I've just checked the score but I have a friend of long standing who's a well informed fanatic...and I just can't keep up with his bulletins! :)

Willie Poaching is their new coach, and he seems a good choice very knowledgeable, has coached at amateur level at Wakefield Westgate a successor to the Redoubt club. Plenty of playing experience at Trin and Leeds I really believe that they will be fine.

kev-eats-owt Thanks. The name I knew at once - the pub I know even better, as it was the watering hole of choice for Sandal RUFC players-about-town. ;) There's one story about a former landlord....not suitable even for those of strong constitution.... ;)
