Do you have to meet a qualifying standard to get in?

Not officially but there is a running league table through the year where people submit their times for the 2km test so if I'm way down in the bottom half of that for my age group then I'm probably wasting my time turning up.

To be clear I'm not thinking I'll be challenging for a medal. I'm just hoping (and realistically aiming) to be top half of the field in my 55-59 year olds race.

Top half or bottom half, it sounds like it'd be a nice experience to go - and it might squeeze a bit more out of you to be there :-)

<q uid="3">@EvilPixie what’s stopping you? Write one twelfth of a book in January, and see how you go./q>Exactly this. I've written several books (and published at least a dozen books written by others). A couple of them have done OK too. A page every day is all you need for a first draft to be done in a few months. Or sign up for NaNoWriMo.

Mine are:

Running:
sub 20 5k (gulp)
Run in one of the Podium 5k events (double gulp as I might very well be last)
Sub 1:35 half
Sub 3:15 marathon - ideally 3:12 by the end of the year

Plus the usual goal of "don't get injured".

Non running:
Successfully finish my part time MSc / do as well as I can in it
Finish knitting the sweater vest I started in 2022!!

I am hoping to run a faster marathon time, with the intent on finishing stronger than I did last year.

Complete my masters, thesis writing is not easy.

But also at work finally get regraded and get paid for the job that I actually do. Been ongoing for 3 years and I have had enough of waiting.

I have an idea for a book but not had the time to sit down and start writing it. Maybe once the thesis is complete.

Have you planned a sporting comeback this year? Or got yourself involved in something outside of the normal remit of our run/swim/bike/walk universe?

Share your hopes, dreams and crushing realities here :-)

Me, I'm constantly hitting refresh on the social media accounts of Olney Town Cricket Club, hoping that their nets will start soon. I am hoping to play club cricket again after a hiatus of about 22 years. I know of at least one other Fetchie planning a similar journey (albeit with ...
