Thanks Jenny! :-)

Perfect! Thanks for demonstrating exactly the sort of thing I'm after, the explanation is important. (NB session is not just something different that you don't usually do)

Yes! I am committing to one coached session a week, usually intervals-y. Last week we did 6 x 800ish with a hill at the end (I hate hills). It really helped me think about opening up & moving my knees in a way that has stuck with me the past few days & will hopefully help me beat the shuffle! Plus the coach told the bloke I was running with “another 6 of these and she’ll start getting tired” - I was knackered but felt like I could fly after that 😅

Another just-what-we're-after there, compartmental. Well described quality session. Nice!

Dipps just pointed me to this thread! Did 6x 3mins tonight as recommended by OS. I think it went really well as all intervals were at 4:00/Km or below.

I blogged it here: fetcheveryone.com/blog/69441

I did 20 mins tempo at half marathon pace (plus two miles warm up and warm down) to remember what running faster feels like in advance of next week's 10k. Turns out it feels quite hard so next week will be interesting! I haven't done any quality running at all other than this since VMLM on 3 Oct cos I had a niggling knee that needed more recovery. I did make time for two quality yoga sessions though!

I haven't been able to run since late June, so my quality session has been on the spin bike.

These are intervals and I quite like "The Sufferfest" Nine Hammers training video that I bought (before it became subscription)

These are vo2max or threshold efforts, either 3 minutes or 4.5 minutes respectively, so not too dissimilar to some run intervals. The recovery periods are still a good effort to keep warm, which if running might be like a brisk jog.

I found I can push the aerobic system lot harder on the bike because lower leg impact, fatigue, core don't get taxed as hard as running.

With running, the intervals would be lap time based from a recent race benchmark. On the spin bike, a fitness test gives be a FTP range and a certain Wattage to hit.

I had a very short swim window so swam with purpose and concentrated on form and strength. And I enjoyed it and felt better afterwards.

What great quality sessions, all of them on this page.

Linds demonstrates mindset makes all the difference and quality doesn't have to be physically 'hard'. Yesterday she said the swim might not happen and it wouldn't be quality if it did. It did and it was - which must have taken focus and mental strength on her part.

A place to record your quality sessions. Once a week for a kick off, if you can. Doesn't have to be running but for once I'm asking for exercise related stuff.

It has to be a session that you feel ticks all the boxes, something you really commit to, do what you mean to do. No half hearted stuff, but no plod through it either. In the words of my elite sprinter friends, you 'execute'. (Not really my friends it's just what they say on the telly.) Not necessarily hard, a...
