If you're happy with your terrain and the runs PJ suggests then give it a go. My thoughts are that if you're returning from injury and illness then I'd be concerned about overdoing it and injury. However you know how you feel and what could be achieved so go with that. I have used PJ a few times and like the plan but I live in the fens and use tarmac roads. My biggest concern would be running fast on uneven ground. Good luck though and keep us posted.

Thanks FF...
Just back from my first "Long Run", just over an hour, regular walking route. Walking these 6 kms take me 2 hours. It is tough: terrain and elevation.
So I ran/walked it. It was very muddy so I had to be careful on the downs, my biggest concern, knee wise, but I was surprised how well I moved once I relaxed into my stride on the downhills. I was a fell runner before illness and injuries and I won't really run much on road, so I am just amending the suggested pace for the runs to reflect the terrain I run at and use my 5k undulating tarmac one from yesterday as my benchmark. My initial time set yesterday automatically reflects the ups and downs and it was blowing a hooley! So I am cautious in setting my goals but feel I need some structure to get back uninjured/without overdoing it.

Sounds tough but sounds like you know what it's like and what you're doing.

Thanks... I used to... It does seem to be coming back. I have even managed to re-vive my old Garmin 301...
I keep saying to myself: this is what it is like... As I shuffle slowly up a hill, run/walking. And there is no beating around the bush: it is what I want to do. I am not looking for road speed, I am looking for fell fitness ☺️

I attempted an interval session tonight. Didn’t quite manage the recommended PJ session, I think I’m probably still feeling Sunday’s long run in my legs. My modified session was 10 mins warm up, 10 x 90 sec at pace/60 sec recovery, then just over a mile easy pace cool down. I’ve claimed an Ace for the session, so just a Threshold run to do on Thursday to complete this week’s Project Joker runs.

No we can exercise twice a day (in England) I'll set a benchmark and get back on PJ. Ran 400m intervals for the first time in ages last week and it could have been worse.

Well done Lin and Mr d, I like intervals but can never seem to find a steady pace, it fluctuates all over.

Hi! A newbie to PJ here. I’ve just completed my first week of sessions. It’s gone reasonably well except for my tempo run. I found it really difficult to maintain a constant pace. I’m not sure whether that was down to me, the terrain or how quickly my Garmin responds to a change in pace. I had to have a couple of brief walks during that session as I over cooked my pace. I might have to find a more level route for my next tempo session. I suppose that the purpose of PJ is to educate us on pacing as well as improving times.

Hi ER I found it difficult to have a continuous steady pace over the tempo run too, however, over the 10 weeks it gets easier. I'm lucky as regards terrain as it's pancake flat and on tarmac.
How's everyone else doing this week?

Well done to everyone who’s either making progress with, or has just started, PJ.
I’m on week 2, I did my long run on Saturday and intervals (5 x 800m) on Monday, just need to do the tempo run tomorrow.
