This situation has parallels with Sky in 2018 TdF where G won - nominally Froome was the team leader (and they also had a v young, but still clearly exceptional Bernal in the team) - there was no point at which Froome would have attacked G or taken the lead unless it was clear that G was going to lose Yellow to another team.
This Vuelta might be Kuss's only chance to win a GT - you'd have to be an Armstrong or Hinault to not want that for a team mate who has already helped JV and PR to GT wins.
Anyone who's played in a team of any kind must be able to see that?

Well, colour me surprised...
...only to the extent that Jonas is the one now closest to Kuss. I honestly though Roglic was the danger to Kuss with Vingegaard the one looking most challenged by Tourmalet (though he did win obvs).
I properly need to watch the highlights tonight.
