We’re changing the way the Minimum Wage is set so it keeps in line with the cost of living. For the first time, the Low Pay Commission (LPC) will factor the cost of living when deciding the rate of the Minimum Wage and Living Wage, in a move to put more money in working people’s pockets. We’re also taking the first steps towards making rates the same for everyone, regardless of age, by narrowing the gap between the National Minimum Wage, for 18–20-year-olds, and the National Living Wage. Red Tory blighters. |

Indeed. They’re just nasty bastards who don’t care why they’re there. Just something to further their fictitious cause. I ain’t surprised but fear this (generally) is only going to get uglier and uglier.

Setting fire to a mosque. The killer wasn’t even Muslim. Meant to be a vigil being held tonight in Southport too. Utter scum. |

Thankfully there doesn't seem to be any mainstream politicians adding fuel to the fire.

The rumour on social media and various internet platforms of the name of the attacker and that they had arrived on an illegal boat crossing last year was present early yesterday and was pretty much front and centre if you simply googled some variant on "who was the attacker in the Southport children murders?" If the information that was being circulated is wrong, then that's hateful and potentially an incitement to hatred and riot and should be prosecuted (though good luck finding what person started it). But if it is correct information, or even if it is wrong, should the police working with mainstream media and modern social media, be doing more to get "good" information out there, to combat this sort of thing. It's not just nasty words on the screen. As can be seen by yesterday's riot, it spills very quickly into "the real world". Last night it was property damage and injury to police, but there is a risk of greater violence still, if misinformation, disinformation or even just missing information is not properly addressed by the authorities? Imho. Those poor, poor little girls, their families and the adults and workers caught up in the attack. Heart breaking. |
