Biden is an institutionalist and has a respect for the constitution. There’s reasons why he declines to comment on Trump indictments and SCOTUS insanity. The idea he will take the immunity ruling as a green light to do what he pleases is for the birds. Trump just wants to be king, like his mates Vlad, Kim and Xi. The law is for little people. The real insanity is that these numpties think they will get away with it long term, and the voters will just shrug their shoulders. The US is now entering that phase where the only thing that will snap them out of it will be the consequences of their own decisions. Because facts are no defence against an opponent waging a religious war. |

Yep. Sorry. He is bankrolled by billionaires. Once they've got their placeman in, they'll never let him out again, given the recent rulings. And he'll be their willing accomplice. Bad times coming for the USA. And by extension, the rest of us. |

larkim, there is no feasible situation in which Biden and Trump are both arguing precisely the same legal case against the Supreme Court at the same time so your mental contortions are completely untestable.

"Donald Trump’s criminal case on charges that he illegally retained classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago club was dismissed on Monday by the presiding judge, ruling that the special counsel who brought the case was unlawfully appointed and funded under the US constitution." The presiding judge WHO HE APPOINTED and who has been bending over backwards to make this trial as slow as possible since it was filed. Who in their right minds thinks that the political appointing of judges is a good thing for justice. What a shit system they have over there. And a Supreme Court picked along party lines? Recipe for bad jurisprudence, as has been the case recently. |

I have to say I tend to agree with the doomsayers. If it could happen in the 1930s, what is to stop it from happening now? It's worse now with social media and everyone thinking they are an expert and have the right to do whatever they want. I hope I'm being paranoid, I really do. Yep, of course they are. But equally untestable is the supposition that Trump would get away with acts via the immunity ruling that Biden wouldn't get away with. All we have are untestable hypotheses, which could also be described as scaremongering - or at least, excessive exaggeration. |

He tried to overturn a lawful election. When that happened this page was a scene of shock and outrage and a fervent wish that he would be quickly arraigned and convicted. How could anyone possibly support him after January 6th? Since then: Republicans refused to impeach him He is now fully redeemed in their eyes and they are back on the Trump train He is a convicted felon He is an adjudicated rapist His organisation has been found guilty of tax fraud He has stolen and refused to surrender top secret documents SCOTUS has given him immunity His Florida judge has thrown that case out He has already told people repeatedly what he will do when he gets elected and he has also refused to say he will accept the result of this election. Jan 6th is an ongoing project. Regardless of all *that* he got the nomination to become President again and barely lifted a finger to do it. It’s absolutely crazy. You don’t have to be a weatherman to know which way the wind blows on this one. |

Sadly I think is spot-on on this. The Supreme Court immunity ruling on paper gives Biden the power to transgress and get away with it in just the way Trump would, and will - but the difference is that Biden will never use that opportunity, it would be unthinkable to him to do so. And neither would pretty well any previous incumbent of the office (except maybe Nixon), at least in the last century or so. But Trump has absolutely no moral compass whatsoever and will use anything which gives him what he wants, whatever harm may result from it.
