I did read with concern bout the USA debate. We can only hope the senior Democrats realise the issue and make it clear that Biden has to stand aside. If they dont then Trump is yer man.

In the UK there are also alarming signs. Neither side are being honest with the voters which is concerning. Clearly it has to be Starmer and we need to trust he will take things in the right direction.

My plan will be to watch the exit poll then get to my scratcher and probably waken c2am then get up before back to bed for an hour or so

Yep, election night plan for me is to wait for exit poll at 10pm, celebrate (I hope!!!) with champagne, head off to bed not too much later, then get up again for the 2am-5am stint, watching in delight as the Tory big names are thrown out on their ear. Friday is a write-off.

I'll be attending a birthday party then hopefully back home for the close of polls - probably with some friends who don't have a TV, so I've said they're welcome to come round and continue the party.

I was at the Darlington count in 2015, after it finished I went back to work to finish off and then home for after probably 2am, and I think there had still been only less than 10 counts completed.

I have less clear recollection of the wider events from when I was at the Keighley count for the previous election, 2010, but it's curious to be at a count for hours and having absolutely no idea what was going on in the rest of the country. Mind, it would be much harder now not to be able to keep up with events elsewhere these days.

From the info Fields posted a couple of pages back, it does look as if 2am is when things start hotting up. I'm hoping by the time I go back to bed at 5am, I'll know whether the ultimate prize has been achieved, the Lib Dems as opposition. I don't think this is going to happen, but it would be just fantastic if it did.

What does encourage me is that clearly this election tactical voting is very much more to the fore than it has been in the past. I was appalled back in 2019 when Jo Swinney treated Corbyn's Labour as the real enemy of the Lib Dems, not the Conservative government that was destroying everything around them, but that seems to have changed now rather, and there seems to be a tacit sharing out of the dividends in a lot of places (not everywhere), each side holding off from heavy canvassing where the other looks the more likely to beat the incumbent Tory.
