I guess the obvious way to make people who believe this heads to explode is to say it's often army veterans in the tents

Make them spend a week on the streets in Scotland in winter.
I think that overstates both the speed of change and the dominance of climate change as the main causative factor, but it certainly is a factor which will play a role and quite possibly (probably?) already is to some extent.
Seriously jda, you think in 100 years climate change won't be catastrophic? We'll be lucky if isn't in 20-30 yrs at rate we're going. There will have to be some massive change in global awakening and cooperation that there has been very littles sign of in human beings historically.

There's another year to move further to the right before the election. They'll be stoning the poor publically by the time we put the clocks back next time

Stupidity and cruelty are very strongly bonded. See also Trump, Mogg, Farridge etc. Kindness and intelligence frequently go together.
Both statements play into the reasons why the Tories are frequently called both the cruel party and the stupid party.

I think (hope) the mistake Braverman is making is thinking there are enough vile and nasty people in the country to win an election by appealing to them and them alone.

Braverman is making a play for the Tory leadership. Remember that.

There are plenty around, sad to say. I wonder whether Rish!, who is a very milquetoast kind of guy, is happy with Cruella ramping up the hate like this. And not just because she is making her leader pitch while he is still in the job.
I’m *fairly* convinced that a move to the right will make them less electable not more, but perhaps they do believe all that guff about their catalogue of failures occurring because they weren’t loony enough.
Either that or it’s all the fault of the woke left wing blob that controls everything, despite the Tories being the actual govt for the last 14 years.
Whatever. If she becomes leader after the next election she will be a disaster. Labour historically has to move to the centre to win power, and Cameron had to do the same thing after years of wingnuts like Howard and IDS. They are in danger of making the same mistake again. Starmer for 3 terms?

Just kidding. He’ll be lucky to get 2. The knives will be out once the election is announced. It will be a dirty fight.

The danger for Starmer is not, I think, from the Tories but from the Labour Left. I am increasingly convinced that they would much prefer another 5 years of Tory government, even with Suella Braverman as PM, than have Starmer get in to power. They hate him, far more than they hate the Tories.

JK *chameleon*
Similar happened with Corbyn and the Labour right. One thing Labour is good at is fighting itself.
