I don't believe that Starmer has even been so honest as to use the phrase "make the best of Brexit" which would be a big step forward from "making a success of Brexit".

Regardless, if making the best of Brexit doesn't include rejoining the single market and customs union, you'll have to explain your use of the word "best" as it seems very nonstandard to me.

You may argue (with good cause) that it will take time to rejoin the SM and CU, and/or that there's a democratic deficit in joining these without full EU membership, but I don't think you can honestly argue that we are better off out of any combination of them. And this is the problem - politicians piling lie on top of lie because the truth is too embarrassing for them to state, even though a large majority of the population can see the lies for what they are.

Any likelihood the Tories will have been licking bye-election wounds this weekend and decide they need to force Sunak out? Would they be that bold / stupid?

Or maybe yes.

They don't really have an alternative to coalesce around since the buffoon got booted, so my guess is they will just try and pressure Rish! into massive tax cuts and more right wing knobbery instead. One last throw of the dice.

Maybe the 1922 will be a voice of relative moderation. I can just see enough Tories feeling that nervous about their seats that they'll do anything to try to feel like they are taking some action to fix things.

Yes, it won't happen until there is some sort of plausible replacement. No-one else is interested apart from perhaps the lettuce, and there isn't a laughter emoji sufficient to encapsulate that idea...

Apparently Truss is going to reveal her own budget ideas a week (?) before Jeremy Hunt does. Unhinged?!

All of the Tories should be worried about their seats regardless of who the PM is. Get yourselves ready for a real job.
