FML - cretin Wallace saying Ukraine needs to display more gratitude? What a fucknut, does he not realise they have more on than stroking your ego.

Very strange statement I thought richmac. Very tone deaf. I know what he means - but that's a behind closed doors, diplomats convo about keeping British people sweet on how much Ukraine loves us. Not a public statement, surely?

I was going to post something on those lines earlier in the week. Given he has suffered from mental health problems for 20 years, it's another strand of the entire charade that I potentially don't like / haven't liked.

Especially since the police have also said that there have been no criminal offences committed. This really ought to have been a private matter with due investigation carried out by the correct people. Yet it's been the main news for the best part of a week.

A few weekends ago, I went to a mini-lecture at a university open day - it was about the media.

The quote that stuck with me was something along the lines of "The media cannot tell people what to think, but it's very good at telling people what to think about". The lecture went on to talk about the coverage of Brexit in the build up to the vote; and how some issues which have turned out to be highly important (e.g. the Irish border) received only a tiny proportion of the coverage.

The media are very good at subtle direction.
