So on todays run I came across one street closed with tables in the street and what looked like a full sit down meal.

The run down the street with bunting revealed road closure signs for Sunday. Oh and one house has a full size cardboard cut out of the queen in their bay window.

By coincidence this is only 100 metres from a piece of ironworks I have noticed that sports jda’s real name

Murrayfield area. Near to the entrance to St George’s School. Jda Ironworks 18xx or something like that it says. Forget the actual street name.

I’m currently standing in a 50mtr queue for a cup of tea in a field waiting for a beacon to be lit. No flags or face masks for me but a few hundred families here.

Had to persuade two of my sons in Scouts to parade up the hill to the beacon, but avoided total hypocrisy on my part by walking up the hill a different way. Quite fancy watching the beacon, but the rain doesn't feel far away now.

We'll wander across the Knavesmire in a few minutes and watch them turning the gas on! Seems a bit of a cheat to me.

Jubilee? Oddly I approve, although mostly because of the unifying effect on the majority of the people I talk to about it. I'm quite impressed with the Queen as a person in general too, although I do think we ought to be a Republic!

Next month I’ll have done 40 years at work. Liz Windsor has knocked up 70. A right good shift and fair play to her, even though I’m not a royalist
