@fozzy - lots of ballots in California too, and Florida - more than NJ / NY. Perhaps they have state rules about the timing of counting postal ballots etc? Or maybe the uncounted total is badly estimated.

Quite a lot of public servants aren't being allowed to work from home this time round. In my area of employment, if I could see parliament WFH while I'm not allowed to I'd find it more hypocritical.

Larkim - CA is still counting too! And Oregon, Nevada, Colorado.

Florida has a state law, that as I understand it, allows them to verify and count mail in ballots as they arrive.

Hence the quick results.

Although none of the states has completely finished and verified their results yet.

Last US election, the California results continued coming in for what seemed like an eternity, pushing Hillary Clinton's popular vote majority ever higher.

Alaska has only counted 3/4 of it's votes (according to ABC news), but that's more of a logistics issue.

If you go to this version of the nyt results scraper website: https://alex.github.io/nyt-2020-election-scraper/all-state-changes.html#

It has all the estimated vote remaining to be counted totals.

Note that in some cases, this includes provisional ballots, and not all provisonal ballots will count.

Biden's majority is already past 5 million, and I believe it is thought it may even go up to 7 million. (Or was it 8?). That is not close.

It's all a bit mixed messages with Whitehall and the working from home.

Originally they were working from home which was good as message was stay at home.

Then the message changed to get back to work keep Pret alive. But Whitehall still stayed at home.

Now Whitehall is going back? Whilst the rest of us are being encouraged to lockdown. Unless you work in a School then it's business as normal.

@Fozzy - I was just wondering why out of the 50 states, and putting aside Alaska, only NJ and NY have more than 10% estimated still to count. Though from that Alex site it looks like Ohio's 95% figure on the BBC must be wrong if there are still 400k plus votes to be counted. None of it will make the blind bit of difference, I was just curious about why those two states were so far behind other "similar" states.

I know lots of places are still counting, but the size of counts remaining in those two states looks anomalous.

Larks, I thought roads v. busy, but perhaps if 50% are having to come in, they are all driving and avoiding public transport as advised? I think trains and buses are pretty much empty up here, so possibly transferred to road traffic?

My question before - how long will Trump be able to keep (ignoring whether he should and that they have no chance of success) how long *could* he keep launching legal actions?
