Hits it on the head Chris, it's like celebrating Pablo Escobar because he 'did some good' and brought Hippos to Colombia.

Chrisull ah yes, we couldn’t put the tele on because of the power cuts - but we were happy. Perhaps if the benefits of economic progress is a myth why should we be so worried about leaving the EU with no deal. (Sorry I’m being fascitious). I do remember be very happy in 1979 but that was probably to do with Scotland getting to the World Cup in Argentina when England didn’t qualify (don’t mention Iran or Peru).

Good grief, can you imagine the riots (especially those under-25) if there was power cuts and their beloved iPhones/Android device was out of action?

JRitchie, the main power cuts of the 1970s occurred under a Heath (Conservative) government. Mind you, I'd choose that government over this lot in a heartbeat. We currently have the most grossly incompetent, but also the most venal and unprincipled, government of my lifetime.

So I've just seen the public information film that still says we should stay indoors where possible and only go out if necessary, but Johnson is all over the news telling us to go out and browse in the shops. I despair.
