It may all go pear shaped, but the Tories will still get reelected unless there's a credible alternative. Labour need to get their act together, and for me one part of that is loosening Momentum's hold.

I am a little sad on Emily Thornberry’s behalf that she did not go forward into the ballot, as I have a great deal of respect for her. But on balance l think it is best that she is out. She had virtually no chance of winning, but she has an overtly combative style. In recent weeks she has been emphasizing the monolithic blocks within the Labour Party. I would not want the candidates to be hiding genuine difference in policies, but the last thing the party needs at this stage is stoking the fires of division on historical grounds.

So has mine. I didn’t go and vote though so can’t complain, although I’m not a fan of either of them.

Ours went for RLB and Burgon, which isn’t a huge surprise given how polluted with Corbynist badly informed propaganda our CLP’s facebook page ends up. Will be interesting to see how they get behind Starmer if he (fingers crossed) is successful.
