Already have mine but I am not sure it’s going to go the way the party management want it to. I suspect (again) that the membership will pick someone that the leadership/PLP don’t want. Personally I’d go for Nandy (even if she hasn’t got a fully formed view of how to deal with Scottish independence) - I would just devolve more and more “stuff” whilst simultaneously upgrading the tax collection rights until you have a de facto independence......

I’m sure that is a naive approach but it seems as good as any I’ve heard from those who should know.......

I got my CLP email over the last couple of days to take part in the CLP nomination process. I'm minded to actually attend this time around so at least I can't blame myself for not voting if the CLP back Corbyn 2.0. Obviously that only affects nomination processes, but if she sweeps the board on CLP nominations it will given an indication of coming from a strong grassroots vote.

OK so some more on that poll that Chris posted.

It's a poll of LabourList readers. Not (all) Labour members.

YouGov did a recent poll for the 'Party Members Project' that had Starmer at 61% and Long-Bailey at 39% in a head to head match.

Basically the polls are meaningless!

Macca, a clear policy on increased devolution of powers to the nations and regions would be my preference. It won't satisfy some nationalists as they would not get a veto/self determination on some really important matters like EU membership, but given that there does not seem to be a huge groundswell (like 60%+) for full independence in Scotland, seems like the best compromise available right now.
That said, doubt I will go for Nandy, it's probably going to be Starmer.

Surelynot
Go for it macca - why not vote for someone who appears to support imprisoning political opponents and sending in riot please to beat seven shades of shit out of people?

Ref the poll :
34% of Labour members surveyed by LabourList/Survation said they had not decided who they would be voting for in the leadership election, and of those ranking candidates for leader, only 22% said they were certain that they would not change their preferences.

So is the only 'real' result of the poll that only 14.5% of those polled have made up their minds?

Pension tax windfall for top earners
NHS crisis plan will benefit tens of thousands

Tens of thousands of high earners will receive a pension tax windfall under plans to solve a staffing crisis among NHS doctors, The Times has learnt. The Treasury is preparing to give tax relief worth hundreds of millions of pounds to those earning more than £110,000.

That sounds like the flimsiest possible pretext to justify giving more to people who have plenty already...

Labour or their Scottish branch office won’t back another referendum, they’re Unionist through & through.

Their leadership candidates seem to be having a competition to see how many ex-Labour voters that can lose forever.
