WS, must be very frustrating for the moderates within the party. How do they break free from this nonsense? Maybe there's a chance that there will be a moderate breakaway forming a partnership/alliance with the Lid Dems all under a new ambitious leader. It would need many compromises and would not be easy, but I can see it being achievable to at least give the Conservatives a run for their money and provide the UK with a real credible choice. The choice this time was crap or crapper!

I think one of the reasons I was not a fan of Corbyn was that he appears to have developed his view of the world by the early 1980s and has barely moved with the times ever since. Pragmatism and compromise are not really his bag. He's never liked the EU and that informed his "support" for Remain in the referendum and his attitude ever since. He was a huge misstep for Labour and now look where we are as a result.

Tony Blair may have made a huge mistake with the Iraq war, but prior to that he was a very effective leader and more importantly, knew what it took to win an election!

I testing that Boris is in the North today. How long will the newly found love in with the working class North last? Is it a tectonic shift and Lab/Tory are no longer aligned primarily along class and wealth or is this a blip to get the WA completed?
Some folk considering about when we might rejoin the EU? Not In my lifetime is my view.

Brighouse you're right, "Blair knew what it took" remember when he used newly minted anti terrorist legislation to have a pensioner delegate at party conference beaten upby security for asking a question -

Not sure with the London Mayoral election. He changed the rules to get Dobson elected as a candidate but Ken trounced him.
Also the conservatives were an utter shambles for that decade.

Next leader of Labour- see quite a few names suggested in the media Inc Sadiq Khan. Though I haven't seen anything suggesting he's said he wants too.
The most 'romantic pheonix from ashes' choice would be Stamer given that he shares a first name with the founder and first parilmentary member.
I'll be interested to see how it pans out of the coming weeks etc. I haven't got a stand out favourite just yet.
