Yes, Diogenes, that's the big question, isn't it? It helps when the vast majority of the print news media is basically working as propaganda for them, and when an emasculated BBC is terrified of challenging the lies they are continually spouting. But I think social media has played a big part, too, in the distortion of reality which allows this.
