Sure but how many times can you find that Kuenssberg has tweeted out blatant lies from "senior labour sources" concerning anything remotely as serious as fake allegations of assault by party activists.

Agreed, JDA. I never really bought in to the whole biased BBC thing, but, sometimes I do wonder. Both Laura Kuenssberg and Robert Peston have apologised this morning for promoting the punch story, when anyone looking at the video can see it wasn't even remotely a punch, or even a deliberate act. Surely it's not beyond reasonable to expect any journalist to view the video in question before putting out the story? And now they should name those sources who told them it was punch. |

I think Twitter has made journalists very lazy. Why bother with the hard yards of investigation and verification when the immediacy of Twitter means you can tweet a kneejerk reaction and appear to be delivering a scoop. However, the journos really need to ask themselves whether they are betraying the ethics of their profession and the public in general by dutifully reporting as "news" what a party political source tells them - without verification. And they should name the source if it is proven that they have lied. They won't, because it's all part of the game. We deserve better. |

Just seen a post on FB that the whole carry on with the boy sleeping on the floor was “fake” and staged by the boys mother. There is indeed a lot of fake stuff so think I will switch it all off as I already know who I am voting for. |

There is so much fake news, and with “deep fake” technology, can we trust anything anymore? And why do I feel that we have somehow been led to this point by sinister forces?

Partly that and partly people's gullibility and stupidity. A lot of what passes for fact on social media is easily debunked with a little research. I've always said that the first four letters of the word "Twitter" described the people who use it quite well. |

Can anyone on here point to a source that says that the "boy on the hospital floor" was either true or fake? Just interested, as an example of the "safety" of news reporting. Thanks. Thursday is going to be horrid. Let's hope Friday isn't the beginning of a very bleak time for UK society. |

Of course, it doesn't prove that it's true. It just shows that at least a large portion of the de-bunking of it has itself been de-bunked. de-de-bunked? Counter-bunked? Unbunked? Just bunked maybe? I don't even know any more. |
